Seminar on December 6, 2009

On December 6th, 2009 a seminar was held for the Italian community at the Arizona Italian American Club in Phoenix. The seminar, concerning services available in the U.S. to the Italian community, was organized by the Honorary Vice Consulate of Italy in Arizona and included the participation of the Consul General of Italy in Los Angeles, Hon. Nicola Faganello. Monica Pescatori and Stefano Caporaletti, respectively of the Citizenship and ARIE offices of the Consulate in Los Angeles participated together with Piero Tarantelli, Director of the COM.IT.ES (Comitati Italiani Estero), and Raffaele Di Martino who is responsible for the Patronato Ital-Uil of Los Angeles which assists with INPS pensions the Italians residing in the U.S. These various organizations are based in Los Angeles and are responsible for the areas of Southern California, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico.

Approximately 300 (Italian born and Italian-Americans) attended the event with the majority interested in acquiring or reacquiring Italian citizenship. Massimo Paolillo, Honorary Vice Consul of Italy in Arizona welcomed the attendees and thanked them for participating in the seminar. Mr. Paolillo reconfirmed his commitment to providing support to our community. Hon. Nicola Faganello followed and also expressed the commitment of the Consul General of Italy in Los Angeles to serving the Italian and the Italian-American Community in Arizona. The panel of presenters then discussed various matters concerning Citizenship, ARIE, the role of COM.IT.ES and Italian pensions. The participants at the seminar gave very positive comments on the event which was the first of a series to be organized under the auspices of the Honorary Vice Consulate of Italy in Arizona to benefit and inform our community. Concluding on a joyous note, a toast with exceptional Italian Prosecco, was made to extend good wishes for the future activity of the Vice Consulate, and a buffet offered by representatives of the COMITES.

Italian Pension Seminar held on February 15, 2010

A second seminar dedicated to the topic of Italian pensions was held once again at the Arizona American Italian Club on February 15, 2010. Mr. Raffaele Di Martino, of the Patronato Ital-Uil in Los Angeles spoke to a group of approximately sixty Italian citizens and provided information concerning Italian pensions. He also met one on one with various citizens on February 15th and 16th to discuss problems specific to their individual cases. Mr. Di Martino will return to Phoenix periodically to support the needs of Italian retirees residing in Arizona. The Honorary Vice Consulate will keep the community informed of all future events.

The Italian Arizona Vice Consulate is a Voluntary Agency established in Arizona by the Italian General Consulate of Los Angeles. The Vice Consulate services are hosted by the Arizona American Italian Club of Phoenix. All documents done in Arizona at the Italian Vice Consulate will be mailed to the Italian General Consulate of Los Angeles by the person in need of the specific filing. The Italian Arizona Vice Consulate is only available to assist. The final responsibility and competence for each filing is with the Italian General Consulate of Los Angeles only.

People in need of documents WILL HAVE TO TAKE AN APPOINTMENT with the Italian Vice Consulate by phone or by clicking on the Appointment Calendar under Communications at the top of the page. The Vice Consulate will only be open based on the appointment schedule.

The next seminar offered by COM.IT.ES will be in April 2010 (Second or third Saturday). Please mark your calendars. Mr. Piero Tarantelli, Director of COM.IT.ES in Los Angeles will return to Phoenix. You’ll receive further information on this event in a couple of weeks.
